"I was and will remain a member of Trinamool Party": Kunal Ghosh
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the corruption case involving the recruitment of teachers in West Bengal and is now focusing on actors in the Bengali film industry, known as Tollywood, who has acted in films funded with money obtained through corrupt means.
One of the actors under scrutiny is Boney Sengupta, who was summoned by the ED and is currently being questioned at their headquarters in the CGO Complex. It is alleged that funds recovered from the recruitment corruption were used to produce a film in which Kuntal Ghosh, a key figure in the case, was involved, and Boney Sengupta played a lead role.
Kuntal Ghosh confirmed that he had worked with Boney for five years when he was brought to court on Thursday. The ED has obtained documents showing transactions of money from Kuntal Ghosh's account, with Boney's name appearing in them.
The central agency will investigate whether this money was paid to Boney as remuneration for his actions or whether it has a direct link to corruption. Boney is currently undergoing interrogation.
